What actually is a flume?

A so-called flume – also called a counter-current pool – looks at first glance like a completely normal pool.

However, the flume allows swimming on the spot by precisely adjusting the flow rate of the water. A flume is mainly used for the analysis of swimming technique (including video analysis).

However, it also offers a number of other options:

  • as a neoprene test center
  • for swimming courses and seminars to improve swimming technique
  • for targeted swimming training, such as overspeed training, open water navigation training or to eliminate swimming fears
  • for performance diagnostic aspects such as measuring swimming economy, determining the energy consumption of the current and planned competition speed and a detailed strength analysis of the arm pull
